A method for the synthesis of D,L-pantothenic acid lactone

The present invention relates to the field of chemical engineering, specifically providing a method for synthesizing D,L-pantothenic acid lactone, comprising the following steps: polyformaldehyde and isobutyraldehyde undergo aldol condensation reaction in an alcohol solvent under the action of a basic catalyst, and the reaction mixture is used directly for the next step without separation; adding hydrogen cyanide to produce 2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutyronitrile; 2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutyronitrile undergoes esterification under acidic conditions to obtain 2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutyrate; adding excess acid for neutralization, followed by solid-liquid separation to obtain ammonium salt by-product; the liquid is evaporated and the alcohol is recovered for reuse, and distillation yields the D,L-pantothenic acid lactone product. The use of this method for preparing D,L-pantothenic acid lactone can achieve high content and high yield of the target product, reduce the amount of acid and base used, eliminate the need for organic solvent extraction of the product, significantly reduce wastewater generation, save energy, protect the environment, and reduce production costs.
